Programs
Head Start
This program is for children ages 3 to 5. It is a comprehensive
child development program
which is child focused and has the overall goal of increasing the
school readiness of
young children in low-income families.
Head Start not only fosters healthy development in the children and
the strengthening of
families, but also provides a range of services in medical, dental,
mental health,
nutrition and parent involvement. It is designed to be responsive to
each child and
family's developmental, ethnic, cultural and linguistic heritage and
experiences.
Collaborations
We have contractual agreements with Dalton/Whitfield Daycare in
Whitfield County, Dalton City Schools and the Whitfield County
School System to provide comprehensive services to qualifying
children in Head Start classrooms.
Georgia Pre-K
The Pre-K program serves 4 year olds and is funded collaboratively through Head Start and the Georgia Lottery for Education.
The goal is to provide the learning experiences needed to prepare children for kindergarten in conjunction with the Head Start services described above
This program is for infants and toddlers from birth to three years old and pregnant women.
The pre-natal program is designed to work with pregnant women to insure that pre-natal medical care is received and to prepare them for the birth of their child. It is based on the findings that early intervention through a high quality program enhances children's physical, social, emotional and cognitive development and enables parent to be better caregivers and teachers. It also helps parents to determine and achieve their own personal goals.
