What is the Family Development Credential?
The Family Development Credential (FDC) is a
professional training and credentialing program for frontline family workers

Who would benefit from taking the FDC
course?
The FDC course is offered to frontline family workers from government, private and not-for-profit agencies, as well as from public sector businesses and corporations. Family workers may include case managers, home health aides, intake workers, early intervention staff, outreach workers, employment and training counselors, customer service representatives of utility companies, crisis intervention staff, home visitors and staff of faith-based groups.
How can I earn the Family Development
Credential?
FDC participants can earn the credential by completing the 90-hour Empowerment Skills for Family Workers course, preparing a portfolio documenting their abilities in strength-based support, and by passing a credentialing exam. Each FDC participant is assigned a Portfolio Advisor to help guide them through the process.
Can I receive college credit or Continuing
Education Credits?
Participants may receive up to 7 hours college credit depending on the college and whether or not the course is applicable to your course of study and does not duplicate a course you have already taken. Successful completion of the entire 90-hour course earns the participant 9 CEUs.
When does the next class begin?
